Separates particles heavier than water by centrifugal action. Used as a first stage on well water with a high sand and sediment load.
A separator filter removes particles heavier than water by centrifugal action. Water enters the inlet chamber tangentially, heavy particles are thrown towards the wall and spiral down into the collection chamber; the clarified water is drawn up through the central vortex and passes to the outlet.
Particles collected in the chamber are discharged periodically or continuously. Because there is no backwash, water loss is very low.
There are no moving parts and no filter element to clean, so there is no clogging risk. Connections range from 1/2 to 6 inch with a 50–80 micron rating: cooling water, well water pre-treatment, rainwater and mill-scale-laden water.
