Cartridge filter
Fine filtration with replaceable cartridges. Widely used as the last safety stage ahead of a membrane; options of 1 micron and below are also effective against colloidal silica.
Cartridge filters are mechanical filters that retain solid particles in the pore structure of the cartridge. They work inside a housing mounted on the line; depending on the application the housing is made of PVC or stainless steel.
They are supplied in 5, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 60 inch lengths, with a filtration rating between 0.1 and 200 microns. As the flow grows, more cartridges go into the housing, so capacity increases without giving up fineness.
The most common use is as a protective pre-filter ahead of a reverse osmosis membrane. Beyond that they serve spring water bottling lines, syrup and sugar, alcohol, wine and beer processes, paint manufacturing, oil retention and tank vent filtration.
